Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme Students choose Litter Picking

Both High Schools in Bromsgrove participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme and as part of the scheme the students  volunteer in their community.

The Keep Bromsgrove Beautiful team were delighted when students approached them in the hope that they could litter pick for their award. The students commit to an hour of litter picking every week whilst working towards their bronze, silver or gold award.

Jules Harper co-ordinates the scheme for KBB and the students report to Jules each time they complete their litter pick. Initially the students were concentrating on their local neighbourhoods, but more recently have moved to tackle targeted areas where they know litter is a problem, like the industrial estates.

Each student has been given a KBB white tabard, a litter picker and a bag hoop, all generously sponsored by Worcestershire County Councillor Shirley Webb.

Anyone wishing to choose litter picking for their D of E volunteering time can contact the KBB team to find out more.
